The Primary Health Care Board under the Lagos State Government in a recent bulletin has announced the sack of healthcare workers.
The communique dated back to 20th of September, 2017, was addressed to health volunteers working in the health sector in the state. An affected social media user shared the news online. The release didn't specify any reason for the action which takes effect from the Independence Day celebration in Nigeria.
The unnamed person lamented the unfortunate incident with complaints as seen below:
''Stella, I hope this meet u well, right now am so pained and disappointed in our system here in Lagos Nigeria after working selflessly as a health volunteer with the Lagos state ministry of health for 5yrs plus with a stipend of 40k with no increment or promotion but promises that was not fulfilled we were layed off just like that without notice or benefit its so sad.

The circular signed by a Permanent Secretary named Dr. Adenike Oluwo reads:
"I have the directive to bring to your notice that the services of Health Volunteers will no longer be required by the State Government from 1st f Octorber, 2017.
"As a result, Primary Health Care Board will no longer be responsible for any allowances accrued tp Health Volunteers through ypur Local Government.
"Please ensure compliance and wide publicity of this Circular"
