The Nigeria Secirity and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo state said on Thursday that it apprehended some suspects for kidnapping a little baby.

The suspects, who were arrested during the process of demanding a ransom from the parents of the child before he could be released, were paraded at the Alagbaka head office of the corps in Akure before journalists.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Pedro Awili, disclosed that the command also nabbed a truck driver with Registration Number: KSF 636 XH loading his vehicle with 45, 000 litres of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on the Akure/Owo road.

He said the driver who was arrested for an unlawful diversion of the product was paraded alongside four other suspects.

“We apprehended them inside a white J5 bus used for transporting 22, 000 litres of suspected Adulterated Automobile Gasoline Oil (AGO),” Awili said.

According to him, some of the suspects were caught at Ogudugbuja in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Awili also stated that another three suspects who specialised in defrauding the people were arrested by the corps for collecting the sum of N52, 000 from one Miss Agoi under false pretence.

He gave the names of the trio as: Ojo Nike, Seun Oke and Bakare Temitope adding that they giving the command useful information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing members.

He stated that the command recovered a snatched Toyota Avensis vehicle and three locally made pistols from some armed robbery suspects around Omifan in Odigbo Local Government Area.

The NSCDC boss said that the arrested suspects are already under investigation and would be charge to court for proper prosecution according to the law.

He asked the people to always give the state command the needed information on the nefarious activities of criminals in order to combat crime in the state.
