Popular dancer and dance instructor , Kafayat Shafau - Ameh , aka Kaffy , has said that dancers deserve to be recognised for the great feats they have achieved in the entertainment industry . Recall that the dancer was recently presented a recognition award at the Headies 2018.
She told Sunday Scoop, “ I appreciate the award given to me at Headies. I have always been a motivated and hard -working person but the award would spur me to work even harder. I am happy that the music industry in Nigeria has continued to grow and you would agree with me that dancers have also contributed a lot to that growth . You can imagine how a music video would look if there are no dancers in it .
"The music industry is also tied to a vibrant dance culture . You can imagine how colourful things have been with dance styles such as shaku shaku and
shoki .”
Speaking on some of the challenges dancers face in the country , she said , “ The major issue is poor remuneration because dancers are poorly paid . Some people are yet to understand the vital role that dancers play .
"Also , dancers have to be more professional so that people would take us seriously. Some artistes also disrespect dancers and that is not nice . If those issues can be dealt with, things would be much better.”
