Liverpool forward Sadio Mane's house was burgled while he was playing in the Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Items including watches, mobile phones and car keys were stolen.

The incident happened at Mane's house in Allerton, south Liverpool between 18:00 and 23:45 GMT - while the 26-year-old was at Anfield. No-one was in the property at the time.

Forensic examinations are under way and a police investigation is ongoing.

Detective Inspector Phil Mahon, of Merseyside Police, said: "We are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this burglary to please come forward and assist our inquiries.

"While the occupants were not present at the time of the incident this will no doubt be a distressing experience for them and I would ask the offenders to do the right thing and return the stolen items to the owner in any way possible.

"We know the watches in particular are of significant monetary value and I would also like to appeal to anyone who might have been offered the items for sale since the burglary to contact police."

Senegal international Mane was burgled in November 2017 while he was at Anfield for a Champions League game against Maribor.

A gang was thought to have broken into his home first before smashing a patio door at the nearby address of team-mate Dejan Lovren before they fled when a woman shouted she was calling the police.

Sadio Mane House Robbed During Champions League Match With Bayern Munich

Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard took his first steps into football management with Championship club Derby at the start of the season and has taken the team to within two points off the play-off places.

Sarri was put under increasing pressure after a 6-0 hammering at Manchester City earlier this month - their third Premier League defeat in four games - saw them drop out of the top four to sixth in the table.

The Blues had conceded four away at Bournemouth in the previous game following a 2-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates, after which Sarri questioned whether his players could be motivated at all.

The Italian,Sarri, who succeeded Antonio Conte following his acrimonious departure last summer, faces two crucial games to close out the week - a Europa League last-32 second leg against Swedish side Malmo FF, with his team 2-1 ahead, and the Carabao Cup final at Wembley against City.

Zola - the former Chelsea forward - defended his boss' position in the build-up to the United defeat, insisting they were going through a tough spell in pursuit of a breakthrough in his philosophy.

He also insisted the players do care, and compared their situation to the difficulties Pep Guardiola endured during his first season at the Etihad.

But Sarri admitted he was concerned about the result to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's resurgent United, stating his side had played "confusing" football in the second half.

"I am worried about the result not our fans," he said. "Of course I can understand their frustration. The result was not very good. We are out of the FA Cup.

"We played confusing football in the second half but in the first half I think we played well. We need more aggression and more determination in the situations inside our own box and inside the opposition box. The difference was there."

Frank Lampard Considered To Take Up Sarri’s Job

The Blues fell to their fourth loss in their last eight games on Monday night, with Paul Pogba playing a starring role for United as the Red Devils eliminated Maurizio Sarri’s men from the FA Cup.

The Stamford Bridge side have also suffered humiliating defeats to Bournemouth and Manchester City in recent weeks, further casting doubts over Sarri’s future at the club.

The Italian manager appears to be failing to implement his ‘Sarriball’ style of football with any degree of success, with the club now also sixth in the Premier League.

And Pedro, who has been a Chelsea player since 2015, has called for his club team-mates to bounce back immediately over the next week.

The club’s next game is in the Europa League against Malmo before a Carabao Cup final against City, and Pedro believes the next two games are vital in trying to put their season back on track.

“It’s a pity because it was a good opportunity for us to continue in this competition,” Pedro told the club’s official website after the FA Cup defeat to United.

“It was a very bad day for us, for all the team. It’s a difficult situation. In the first half we played very well, we created chances to score one goal, but they had two situations and scored two goals.

“The most important thing was to do a good job creating chances with the ball in the second half, but we couldn’t do it and for this reason it was so difficult for us to come back.

“There is an important game in the Europa League for us, and, after, the final against City.

“The most important thing now is to stay calm, train really hard and recover our best football and our best feeling, because if not we are in trouble.”

Pedro:Chelsea Will Be In Big Trouble If We Fail To Bounce Back

Aaron Ramsey’s unique style in midfield will be missed at Arsenal, according to former manager Arsene Wenger.

The 28-year-old will join Juventus on a free transfer in the summer after signing a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A champions, moving when his existing deal at the Emirates expires on July 1.

Ramsey played under Wenger for 10 years and the pair enjoyed relative success, lifting the FA Cup three times, with Ramsey twice scoring the winning goal.

Speaking at the Laureus Sport for Good presentation, Wenger said: "It will be a loss for Arsenal. I must say it will be an interesting move for Ramsey.

"He is a player who is great going forward. His main quality is he can keep the final ball and he makes interesting runs from deep.

"You don't find many players today who can make midfield runs off the ball. It will be an interesting addition for Juventus."

The body of the 28-year-old Sala, who died in a plane crash last month, was laid out in a gymnasium in the town where he grew up.
This was to enable friends and family pay their last respects.

A single-engine plane carrying Sala from his French club Nantes to his new team Cardiff City crashed on Jan. 21 in the English Channel. This was before he could make his debut for the English Premier League side.

Wreckage was found on February 3 following a privately-funded underwater search, and a body recovered three days later.

Sala’s body was flown back to Argentina and arrived in Buenos Aires on Friday morning before being driven the 538 km (334 miles) to Progreso, where he grew up.

The gymnasium of the Atletico y Social San Martin de Progreso club hosted boys’ teams where Sala played as a child.

They began arriving at about 7 a.m. on Saturday to see the body and pay their last respects.

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson will return to the dugout for a charity match to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the team’s treble-winning season.

The English Premier League (EPL) club said on Saturday that the 77-year-old Scot would take charge against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on May 26.

Ferguson, who won the UEFA Champions League twice, the EPL 13 times and five FA Cups with Manchester United, had emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage in May last year.

But he has since recovered and is a regular visitor to Old Trafford on matchdays.

“I’m really looking forward to what will be a special day at Old Trafford,” Ferguson told the club website.

“It will be great to catch up with some familiar faces and a great opportunity to support the work of Manchester United Foundation.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, currently Manchester United’s interim manager, scored an added-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final match.

The win helped them complete an unprecedented treble, which included the EPL title and the FA Cup.

Alex Ferguson Set For Manchester United Return In A Charity Match

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says he is "looking for some consistency" from his side after they claimed a 2-1 victory in Malmo in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie.

It followed their 6-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

"In the last period we've had the problem of up and down, up and down," said Sarri.

"4-0, 5-0 to us, 6-0... so we need to have continuity and consistency."

Chelsea had lost four of their previous 10 games going into Thursday's match, being beaten 4-0 at Bournemouth in the Premier League on 30 January and 2-0 at Arsenal 11 days earlier.

Sarri said Chelsea needed to "approach every match with the same level of application, determination and attention".

The Italian added: "You know very well that, if you are in bad mental condition in England, in 10 days you can lose three or four very important matches. So we need consistency. We have to approach every match in the same way. It's not easy, but we have to try."

Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud scored for Chelsea in Sweden, with Anders Christiansen pulling one back for Malmo in the 80th minute.

The second leg is at Stamford Bridge on 21 February.

"I am happy because we played with a very good level of confidence," Sarri said.

"It wasn't really very easy after the last match. But today we were confident because we moved the ball also inside our box.

"So I think we played very well. We risked only on set-pieces, because they are more physical than us. We could have scored more, I think. But we conceded a goal on a mistake. Today, the level of application and attention was good. We made a mistake, I think, a material mistake. So it could have been better.

"Better because we had three or four goal opportunities when it was 2-0, so we could have killed the match. But I am happy with the confidence. It wasn't easy to play with this confidence after the last match."

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta said Chelsea "had chances to have a more comfortable result" against Malmo and thinks the tie is "still all to play for".

"It was a tough defeat last Sunday but we are in the knockout stage and it's important to start well," he said.

"This tournament is very important. We are fighting for trophies and to be in the top four. We are in the Carabao Cup final next week. Every trophy is important."

The Blues have a tough run of fixtures over the remainder of this month, starting with the FA Cup fifth-round tie with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Then, after the return leg with Malmo, they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on the 24th and Tottenham at home in the Premier League three days later.
